Chapel, St. Joseph’s Hospital

The giant curved wall which projects out from the facade of the hospital holds the chapel.

Inside, the exterior brick continues around the chapel, and a unique, projecting skylight provides natural illumination for the altar.

Minimal fenestration provides light from the side through stained glass. Below, two large medallions flank the entrance to the chapel.

The bent hallway provides seclusion and sound dampening from the noises of the hospital around the corner.

  1. Kinda reminds me of my childhood parish, St. Joseph’s in Manchester on Sulphur Spring Rd. A lot of modernistic art, and minimal “ornamentation.” All of which translated into not a whole lot to look at when sitting through all those masses as a kid in grade school.
