East of Interstate 55 Down South

There is a large portion of the city cut off by the interstates. Up north, we see mostly devastation, as people fled living next to an interstate on the west and industry on the east. Down south, it’s not so bad, and there are thriving streets.

I find this massive retaining wall protected house fascinating; it is Modernist, but the wall is older. What was here originally?

And then there’s this Modernist apartment building.

More traditional houses and storefronts abound, though.

What is up with this house below? Flounder house with massive renovations?
