    That is a nice one. I am not sure I have noticed an alley passage running through a rear bump out like that on any other house (and I am not just talking about St. Louis). I have no doubt that there are others, but usually when you see alley passages (mouseholes) like that, they are for rowhouses with a continuous street wall and no alley access. Seeing one in a semi-detached house such as this one is unusual. Combine the unique house form with the nice decorative bricks and brickwork, polychrome slate roof, and intact metal cornices, and you have something really worth saving and restoring.

      I actually know of at least one example on the 400 Block of M Street NW is Washington, DC. I was always fascinated by it.
