Criminal Negligence At Its Logical Conclusion

Due to the fact that laws of St. Louis are too weak to get wealthy business men to follow the law, a building that in the right hands would be occupied and generating tax revenue is instead lying in ruins, hopefully demolished by the time you read this post.

The building sat in a ridiculous state of disrepair for years, as you read about in my old post; despite the best efforts of city employees, the fines for violating the law in St. Louis are too low to make people with no shame clean up their act.

Hmmm, looks like a new roof deck was put on, but no roofing material was installed on top of that? I think someone had tried to give this building a go, but…ran out of money? Will? Patience? It’s always a shame to see a corner building lost to political corruption and time.

As much as I hate seeing the structures in this city continue to deteriorate, this one had been in rough shape for many, many years and in some ways, I’d rather no building exist than have a dilapidated, dangerous structure crumble while some jack*ss Chesterfield landlord let’s it all happen slowly and with no real recourse. And as was pointed out, the relatively recent “repairs” to this building were so horrifically done that even the worst craigslist contractor wouldn’t have taken credit for the work…

I agree that this building was a prime candidate for demolition due to its advanced deterioration. By the way, the slumlord who owns this building really does live in Chesterfield.

Chesterfield bitches. I just wish the earth would swallow up Chesterfield. I refuse, completely refuse to set my foot there.
