Thats really quite awful how that apartment row has been butchered. Looks like several butcherings over time… complete w/ vinyl siding on the side! Must have been a beautiful row at one time.
Hello! I know this was from five years ago, but that row of apartments in the first building have been demolished and a movie theater sits there now. And a brewery and smoke house is being developed in that nice building in the last picture and should be opening soon. Also in the same area now is a small indy book store, a family owned pizzeria (finally Granite City has an amazing option for REAL pizza), a performing art center, an art gallery, music shop, and much more.
Wow! They haven’t torn down those apartments yet!

It’s quite the experience inside too. Granite City is truly depressing especially when comparing it to Downtown Belleville. It’s really night and day.
BTW, it’s almost 60% demolished as of Thursday.
