East of Kingshighway, in and near the western tail of the upside-down U-shaped Greater Ville neighborhood, there is a lot of abandonment, just a couple of blocks off of Martin Luther King Drive.
Further west, in the Wellston Loop, there are signs of life, such as this rehabbed storefront, on the south side of the street, just east of the County line.
Then there are these two beautiful houses, whose backyards back up to the City of St. Louis, but are actually in the inner-ring suburb of Wellston.
They are both abandoned, as far as I can tell.
But there are wonderful signs of life further to the south in the concrete block house area, where houses continue to be rehabbed, which is exciting. There is another area of concrete block houses nearby, which I looked at in March of 2022.
But there is still lots of work to do in the immediate area.
Update: The house below was demolished at some point before the Fall of 2020.
Then there is this very old house, surrounded by underbrush and trees, sitting right on the edge of the city, still abandoned and probably eventually doomed to be demolished.
