The cutting through of a new section of Wild Horse Creek Road off of the old Olive Street Road, which began its life as a plank road, has opened up new pieces of land for development out in Chesterfield. The clearing of trees has revealed an old farmhouse and two barns, which county assessor records list as being built in 1917. I don’t know if they’re that recent. Much of the land out this way was once farmed, but due to the poor soil, was allowed to grow back as forest.
I wonder if 1917 reflects a date of substantial remodeling, if we’re speaking about that big red building. Are you able to give a more specific location, Chris?

Thanks, Chris. The assessor’s office pegs it as Old Chesterfield Road, but I haven’t yet come up with any info on the folks who once farmed it. Have found a wealth of other info, though, as one does.
Old Chesterfield Road is the new name the City of Chesterfield gave to the section of the road on the north side of the property that was traditionally Oliver Street Road. That new section of Wild Horse Creek Road is less than a decade road, built to improve traffic flow. Glad to hear you’re learning more about the property!
