
Today, the houses of Claymont look much the same as they did when they were built, but there is pressure in the economically desirable city of Ballwin for “tear downs,” where lots are worth more than the houses on them.

While that has spelled the end of many ranch houses in West County, so far that has not happened in Claymont, and I wonder if that will not happen, or even if subdivision covenants prevent that.





One thing that is interesting is the appearance of churches and other buildings built in the subdivision. Below is St. Mark Presbyterian Church, built in 1973, it seems.
