Hi, I’m doing genealogical research on my great grandfather who immigrated from Prussia to Augusta mo, then St. Louis in 1889.
My question is he had a small tack like hammer and I was told he was a carpet layer on the census, did homes in north stlouis actually have carpet ?
I still have the hammer, has a grove from his thumb in the handle.
