Enright Avenue Between Goodfellow Boulevard and Porter Mall, West End

Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps, t. Louis, Missouri, 1909 December, sheet 067, University of Missouri.

Crossing over Goodfellow Boulevard we reach the short stretch of Enright Avenue before we get to the Ruth Porter Mall, which the Sanborn Map shows the aforementioned Cabanne Way. We looked at the east side of the roadblock back in December of 2025.

As is typical of Enright, the houses tend to be smaller and more middle class, befitting its location one block north of Delmar and its noise–and its streetcar line. Note there is a Polar Wave Ice and Fuel located just on the other side of the alley on Delmar.

I have to think the house below was originally a duplex.

Also, if one looks closely at the surviving houses, it becomes obvious that they were probably built in tracts with just the front facades and roofs changed for ease of construction.

An abandoned house is rare in this area, and probably only because it looks like there was a fire. It is becoming very desirable for rehabbers around here.
