Out of Blood (and Money)

Update: All eighty employees were terminated at the end of February. The hospital surrendered its licenses and will not reopen.

Absolutely no one was surprised that the new three bed hospital opened by Paul McKee failed only a short time after it opened, and years, I mean years after it was first proposed. Property taxes, which are over a million dollars and years overdue, are due on his other properties in just a few days. Few people believe he’ll pay them. And did anyone, besides me, first think of vampires when the news reported the hospital had run out of blood?

And trust me, I doubt it’s going to reopen. Would you loan money to him? The grocery store is dead, too, leaving the gas station as the only business to still be in operation.

I went and talked to Paul when Northside was first proposed/planned. I wanted to be involved in the historical preservation he said would happen. I met with him a couple of times, he seemed legitimate and genuinely interested in preservation. Do you think he ever intended to carry out his plans? It doesn’t make any sense the way it turned out.
