I’ve always been intrigued by the simplicity of Adam Lemp’s monument in Bellefontaine Cemetery. A large upright stone, sitting in a field of grass.

His wife’s name is not mentioned on the monument, even though she is buried nearby.

One of Adam’s early business partners, Louis Bach, is also buried nearby in his own family plot, after having been moved from another South St. Louis cemetery.
