A Blog detailing the beauty of St. Louis architecture and the buildup of residue-or character-that accumulates over the course of time.
Almost a year since the last time I photographed it, the house at Cook and Whittier is holding on.
This building is just wonderful and it truly is a shame to see it in this condition. I have noticed this place during drives to and from my place of employment. It is a sight to behold.
I wish it was feasible to assemble a team of tradespeople to properly restore this place. That would take a fortune. It seems difficult to imagine a profitable, worthwhile, successful endeavor to save a place like this. To save the countless derelict structures in our city. There is such a gigantic opportunity for people to be employed doing so many needed things in our city if only the money was available, as well as the “man” power…. A place like this makes me dream big. Hmmmm.
