A thought that is surely not original…
“St. Louis brick” is prized around the country.
The City owns (at least) hundreds of brick houses ALREADY decaying and collapsing. and beyond renovation.
Why doesn’t it put people to work harvesting these bricks and then selling them on the open market?
This would be both a source of employment and of at least modest revenue for the City. I would think that the money realized would at least pay for the razing of the structures.
Perhaps bulldoze them into piles and let the gleaning begin?
