Chamberlain Avenue Between Goodfellow Boulevard and Clara Avenue, West End

Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps, St. Louis, Missouri, 1909 December, sheet 041, University of Missouri.

Chamberlain Avenue between Goodfellow and Clara is in a much better state of preservation than other parts of the West End.

The houses are a mix of wood and brick.

And there is a mix of architecture styles.

There is some good news; I briefly looked at Chamberlain Avenue back in April of 2021 and this house below has seen some repairs, which is great to see.

I’ve seen the style of house below before and it is seen throughout the West End, but it looks like it should be in a more urban environment.

Many of these houses show how this area was suburban and laid out early in the 1880s when streetcars could bring people to the central city.
