314 Day is tomorrow and I wanted to bring you a great story the day before about a St. Louis Institution. Everyone knows about Dad’s Cookies in Dutchtown, but did you know that it was originally part of a chain out of Los Angeles? They are the last store to survive after every other one closed.

Recently the company has changed hands to a new generation, and the new owner, Chad Huber, has made some new improvements to guarantee that Dad’s Cookies will be around for even longer. While the oven above was still creaking along, Huber has installed a brand new oven that bakes even more cookies with greater efficiency. It is very cool.

Dad’s Cookies has even expanded to the south into an old tavern space for more capacity. I had a great time getting a tour recently, and was amazed just how many cookies are baked in such a small space! Check them out in their original location if you’ve haven’t been down there in a while.
