Demolition, North Broadway at John Street

Northwest Plaza, Hyde Park and Elsewhere 043

I guess I always just took this massive warehouse, with its large painted signs, for granted. But when I drove by this week, I realized it was not long for this world. Built in 1900 (I suspect the section at left was older), and demolished for a contract of $90,000, it now creates yet another boring, empty lot on North Broadway

Shit! I thought this was one of the most interesting buildings on that section of N. Broadway. I wonder if something will be erected there again in my lifetime.

I wonder which city will end up with OUR bricks…you would think that they would somhow reuse them in the new construction here in St.Louis.

Yeah I know, I don’t want to think about it.
