Down by the River and Railroad Tracks, Jefferson City

For my finally few minutes in Jefferson City I headed down to the levee area of the town where there is an Amtrak station. But looking at and comparing the photo above and seeing what is there now, it is obvious that much has been demolished, sadly.

There is a small state historic site you can visit in the old warehouses and traders’ stores that is still open.

Much of the architecture is what I would call Greek Revival or Federal style.

And much of the building material was originally stone, as can be seen below.

The Missouri Pacific train station, which is no longer used as such, is to the east down the tracks, and is a great example of the Romanesque Revival after the Civil War.
