Plans for a new “Angelica Street” police station were announced in 1929, as the eponymous building at Angelica and 9th streets was in danger of being outside the boundaries of the Sixth Precinct as the city grew to the west.

The Police Board budgeted $150,000 for the new station at the corner of West Florissant and Ruskin in the Walnut Park neighborhood, and like the other new police precincts going up around the city, it was in the Art-Deco style. It was time for other reasons; the Angelica Street station was at that point the second oldest in the police department.

Described as a miniature version of the police headquarters, it also featured a garage, as horses were now obsolete.
