Perhaps it’s illogical that Front Street faces a bluff and not the Missouri River, but nonetheless, the businesses lining the side of the thoroughfare that runs parallel to the train tracks is a wholly intact row of storefronts.

The town has a website promoting the downtown’s stores and events. The buildings are all occupied or at least renovated.

But the real surprise comes in the middle of the block.

The amazing Art-Deco movie theater, the Walt, is still independently owned and operated, and in business.

There are still many original businesses open, as well.

The City Hall and police station wrap around the corner in what were obviously originally commercial buildings.

The aqua-colored door next to the theatre leads to a lovely airbnb spot. Had a nice weekend there once in a suite in beautiful condition.
