The last of St. Louis’s gasometers is being torn down. That’s a shame, but I did spot one still standing off in the distance in Edinburgh.
So, this is the same sort of structure as was along I-44 in Shrewsbury, correct? And if I understand how they work, the concept was that the tank “floats” in a sense, moving up and down inside the steel frame depending on how full it is. Very cool.
