Hyde Park in the Morning Light #24, One House on Blair Avenue

The house on the left has been suffering for a very long time, and it probably seems even longer for the owners of the building next door.

Sadly, it’s a good illustration how houses fall apart over the passage of time.

First the hard, high-temperature bricks go on the exterior and then softer bricks are used for the two inner courses. They are not meant to be exposed to the weather!

I will be giving a short presentation at 10:30 AM tomorrow, Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Missouri History Museum as part of Johnny Rabbit’s program, “The Spirits of St. Louis: Ghosts, Haunted Places, THE Exorcism, Spiritualists, and the Paranomal.”
