Earlier this year I drove down this block of Samuel Shepard Drive east of Compton Avenue and I spotted a house that I knew I had to photograph later.

But when I came back last weekend, I couldn’t find it!

“I know there’s a house in there,” I said to myself, and after looking more closely, I finally spotted it, poking out from the tops of the trees like a Mayan temple in the tropical rainforests of Belize.

I looked at its neighbor across the street way back in September of 2014; I feel like it may have been occupied back then, but it clearly is not anymore. I have often remarked that there are just no regular houses to buy in the neighborhood.
