Ivory Avenue juts off at an angle at Steins Street in Carondelet, leading up to Lemay Ferry Road, one of the major arteries of the County.
Along its triangular shaped blocks, many houses and stores adapted to the diagonal street.
But not all did, as this house on the right shows. In fact, many of the storefronts are built on the front of what were originally houses.
As the street became a major artery out to Lemay, car dealerships and repair shops popped up.
Other neighborhood institutions, such as the Carondelet Bakery, continued to serve the residents of the area.
