Ladue Middle School

Originally built as a junior high school for grades seven through nine, the gymnasium and lunchroom for Ladue Middle School has always impressed me. Designed by Murphy and Mackey, a notable St. Louis architecture firm, it opened in 1958 at a cost of $1,523,618.

St. Louis Globe-Democrat, October 19, 1958, Page 28.

Designed for 1,000 students, the building has been altered over the years.

Today, several new wings protrude from the giant canopy on both sides.

    Hi Chris ~

Wondering if Murphy and Mackey also designed the Christian Scientist compound at 10939 Ladue Rd in Creve Coeur. These remind me of Harris Armstrong’s work — esp the Ethical Society on Clayton. Thx como siempre!

Sorry about the slow response; it was designed by the firm of Kromm, Rikimaru and Johanse.
