Left Behind

Update: Apparently these houses have been demolished as of September 2015. See more of this area from July of 2012. Text edited for content in July of 2022; apologies for the poor quality of my early photography on this site.

These were the extremely old houses that were left behind when I-70 went crashing through North St. Louis. Whole residential portions of the neighborhood now found themselves “on the wrong side of the interstate,” sandwiched between a highway and the industrial Near North Riverfront. Judging from their Greek Revival style, they could easily be from the 1860s or earlier.
