Heading north of Highway 94 in search of more cemeteries acquired by the federal government for the uranium processing grounds, we should have known taking the “Lost Valley Trail,” really an old farming road, was going to set ourselves up for an interesting day of exploration.

First up, I noticed a break in the rocky outcropping on the east side of the road, and when we went to investigate, we discovered an abandoned quarry.

The photos above and below show either end of the large expanse hollowed out of the hillside.

Moving along, we made our way up a hillside to the Muschany Cemetery.

Again, it was not large but I did notice the presence of a marble gravestone, which is rare in these cemeteries.

A farmhouse was located nearby and the spread of non-native plants showed its relative location. The May-apples were out in full force already.

We went back down the hill and crossed a valley filled with flowers, which again, was probably a disused farm field.

Trails that snake up valleys are almost certainly old roads, which show remnants of their former asphalt surfaces in places.

There is a small waterfall at one point, as well.
