Neosho Street Between Hampton and January Avenues, Part One

Building overlooking the northwestern corner of the intersection of Hampton Avenue and Neosho Street, Sievers Studio, January 14, 1953, In Copyright, Rights holder: Freeman and Company, Missouri History Museum, P0403-53013-03-4a.

We’ll look at Neosho Street over the next several days, starting in the west at Hampton Avenue and going east and back in time, so to speak.

Of course, first we seen rows and rows of Gingergbread style houses, which is what we sort of describe as Neo-Gothic Revival architecture, and is very special and unique to St. Louis in its breadth.

I consider this to be the St. Louis Hills neighborhood.

Many of the streets are one-way, alternating directions every other street.
