Now, as we head north up Blair Avenue into Hyde Park, we see this substation. A pet peeve of mine is how AmerenUE makes no effort to integrate its utilities into city neighborhoods. They’re not so ugly and obtrusive in West County; trust me.

I’ve seen lots of abandonment in southern Hyde Park in the last nineteen years, and it’s sad to see; the little one story houses have seen several become vacant.

The building below hasn’t changed in years.

There are positive signs, though, in the new in-fill housing that was built several years ago.

The house below has been fixed up and occupied, I’m happy to report.

There is just such a wealth of amazing housing stock in the neighborhood, whether it’s Italianate or Second Empire.

We now make it up to the eponymous park.

Chris, I love your website. Since I live on Blair in Hyde Park, I was so happy to see these posts but I clearly have a phone with technology issues as it hasn’t been showing any photos. My home was built in 1884.
Thanks for tuning in! I’m enjoying your comments.
