Sitting on a little triangle of land along South Broadway and just north of the vacant lot that was once the Home Brewery, the beautiful fire station reminds me of the fachwerk architecture of Anheuser-Busch in the early Twentieth-Century.
Is it still a functional fire station?
No, it was restored by a local businessman who maintains it in return for using it for storage. I recently discovered there is another fire station still in use like this one up in the North Pointe neighborhood.
Oh, to live in that building!
