I spotted this rare sight of a Prairie Line yard locomotive crossing South Broadway on a recent Saturday morning. Many people might remember that Anheuser-Busch once had its own short line railroad, the Manufacturers Railway, but InBev closed it. Apparently this railroad is now contracted to provide services that historic railroad once provided. The Lemp Brewery of course had its own short line railroad, too, which was the Western Cable Railway. The Prairie Line’s website uses the word demurrage which I literally had never heard of before.

That appears to be an unused or just from the factory power unit. As a train enthusiast, I say: that is Really Cool.
Really disappointed I was not treated to such a show on my recent walk around the brewery.
Only the second time I’ve seen a train cross Broadway.
I’m going to have to go look for that.
