Heading east of downtown Davenport, we reach Prospect Park and environs.

Centered around an eponymous greenspace, the area grew up later than Hamburg upriver from older parts of Davenport. There is still no levee protecting the city, so there are excellent views of the Mississippi River from the neighborhood.

There are relatively simple houses on the side streets, as seen above and below, and they were still filling in smaller lots well into the Twentieth Century.

But then there are the mansions, including this huge Tudor Revival house below.

And while the Arts and Crafts style is usually associated with bungalows, you sometimes see it expanded into quite large houses, as seen below.

And yes, here’s a Second Empire style house, but I actually think it’s a revival of that style.

Then there are the houses right on the park, which have been immaculately restored and are truly magnificent, looking out over the river valley.

This massive house had one of the more unique back bays, or whatever you want to call it. It’s a single family house, mind you.

I also spotted a Sinclair Dinosaur.
