Update: The disused incinerator’s smokestacks were demolished in May of 2024.
I was showing someone the municipal incinerator down on Gasconade Street. It’s an impressive structure, and from I understand, it still burns our garbage. It’s a shame it doesn’t capture the electrical potential of that heat like Baltimore’s incinerator does. But wait a minute, what the heck is that stuffed horse doing there???
Well, reclaiming the heat to drive steam turbines would involve thoughts the likes of which are largely unavailable to our City management.
The horse seems almost new. Somehow, I imagine sadness surrounding the story of its presence here.
