I was excited to see that ND Consulting is continuing to build new affordable housing in addition to rehabbing houses in Hyde Park. They have been responsible for helping renovate many historic structures, and not just new construction. I believe that by filling in the empty lots, people will be encouraged to then buy and rehab the historic houses that now will not feel so “hopeless” or “isolated” in islands of tall grass. The new buildings understand the concept of the “street wall,” and while they do not match up perfectly, it is important to realize that Hyde Park was built over a century, and there is a natural “rhythm” to many of the front yards on many thoroughfares.
