There appears to be another roundhouse, though slightly smaller, at the southern end of the rail yard across the Hall Street from the one you highlighted. google map these coordinates: 38.691294,-90.214948

I think the N&S location is more of a turntable for the three stalls in the building housing BIG mechanical work rather than as a categorization as a "roundhouse."A roundhouse is typically for "light" mechanical work and storage.
