Just to the west of the old Falstaff Plant No. 10 and just south of Gravois there is an interesting pocket of house in the Benton Park neighborhood. Blues City Deli is nearby.
What is also interesting is that there are some very old houses, including ones that probably date back to as early as the 1860s, such as the little one below, and possibly its larger neighbor.
Cushing Street dead ends into an alley, which is common in the Benton Park neighborhood as the subdivision of the St. Louis Commons was not centrally planned and accidents such as that occurred often.
Half flounder alley houses can still be found in this area, as well.
