As a child of 5 to 10 years of age, growing up in the postal area known as Chesterfield, for there was no such place back then, it’s so odd to see a mall. Constructed or deconstructed. My vision of Chesterfield was lots of farmland. We had 26 acres and next door had 90. Across Olive was all farmland, too. The folks with the 90 acres had peach and apple orchards. I recall a hot summer day wandering through the orchard and taking a peach. The warmth of the sun made the juice of the peach all that richer. Passing strange, so to speak, a sporting goods department where a tree had been.
