Skinker-DeBaliviere #26, 5900 Block of Pershing Avenue

Closer to Des Peres Avenue, which was once actually the River des Peres, the houses are smaller, and some are newer, reflecting the covering of the stream in the early Twentieth Century. Note the house above to the left; it was a Modernist bungalow that received a half-timber roof addition sometime in the not-to-distant past. I like it.

I am giving a free lecture on Hans IV Pfleger’s Candlesticks and House Altar at the Saint Louis Art Museum this Friday, today, June 15th at 6:00 PM.
