More of Dutchtown south on Compton. Just look at that house above; hardly anybody puts that much effort into making a small house that beautiful anymore today. It might be one of the most striking houses in the city.
I wonder if the first house pictured was constructed by a brick mason for himself. Sometimes, you find houses built by tradesmen for themselves which have a much higher level of detail than would normally be found in such a small house. One of my great-grandfathers was a cabinetmaker; his house was not large, but it had the built-in cabinetry of the largest mansion. After all, why not have the best for your own house if you have the skills to do so?
That is very possible.
