Cherokee Street/Via dei Tribunali

I thought the painting sitting in the window of El Torito Grocery Store looked familiar. Then I realized it; I had seen a similar composition, a scene of presumably the Virgin and Child saving souls from Purgatory, in the chapel of a church on the Via dei Tribunali, in Naples, Italy.

Interior, Cathedral, Milan

Update: These pictures are really blurry; I probably wouldn’t post these in 2020 or later. Sorry about the low quality! The interior of Milan Cathedral is probably the darkest place I’ve ever tried to photograph; it is downright cavernous with minimal light. I hope these pictures give you some sense of the experience. Huge paintings…

Caserta, Campania, Italy

Supposedly this palace is where they filmed the palace of Naboo in the first Star Wars movie. I try to block the first prequel out of my memory, so I don’t remember any of these rooms in the movie.

Taverns, Pompeii and Herculaneum, Campania, Italy

Cornaro Chapel, Santa Maria della Vittoria, Rome

This church is one of those little packages with a big prize inside. Located on the Quirinal Hill, this church is less famous for its structure as it is famous for one of its altars in the left transept of the church. Below is one example of the beautiful paintings in the church that is…

The Transfiguration, Bolton Hill, Baltimore

We were driving by a church in the historic Bolton Hill neighborhood of Baltimore, when we spotted this awesome altarpiece in a church around the corner from my friend Rachel’s house. It is unique, representing a relatively uncommon subject matter in early Twentieth Century altar painting. Just one of the many little surprises in Baltimore.

Self Portrait, Church of Il Gesù

I had to lighten this photo with Windows Photo Editor because I took this picture into a slanted mirror on the floor after the lights had been turned out on the ceiling of the church. I think it turned out really well regardless, complete with my wild hair from hours pounding the pavement in Rome.
