It was warming up so we went back out in the area that was cleared for the Weldon Spring Munitions Plant during World War II in St. Charles County.

After exploring this staircase, we came across this concrete box of undetermined use. Does anyone know what this could be?

Old fence lines survive, as well.

But is most interesting is the surviving outlines of an old swimming pool.

You can even see the old ladder down into the pool.

There are the foundations of an old restroom located a few yards from the pool.

How interesting. Do you know the history of the pool? I assume it was spring-fed? The concrete box may have had some purpose relating to the function of the pool. Do you know if there was a community nearby, or if it was isolated out in the country?
There was a spring-fed pool (Sun King Pool) and a tavern (Girlies) years ago in what is now Cliff Cave Park in south STL Co. There are no remnants of that pool, but you can still see concrete stairs/ramp from where the tavern was, leading down into the Mississippi River from one of the current trails.
