The viaduct under the old Missouri Pacific train tracks has a date of 1930 imprinted in the concrete over its lintel, but there are huge blocks of granite making up parts of its core, so I suspect it is much older, and was merely repaired in the early Twentieth Century. The road goes down to the 110 acre Tree Court Industrial Park, which has an interesting story. It was owned by the Lachhass Family, who apparently owned it for over a century when Andrew H. Baur purchased the land to develop the industrial park in 1961. Large, mature oak trees were left when laying out the grounds.
I’ve driven through this tunnel before, and you have to be careful. There are delivery trucks leaving the industrial court all day long, and it’s a “one way” drive lane, just big enough for one vehicle to pass through at a time. There is also a hidden gem of a bar in the area too.
