Despite the sad loss of Friedens, I still think that Hyde Park is such a great neighborhood, full of so many beautiful buildings.

Twentieth Street, one block over, is almost completely intact.

I really love this storefront church, below. There is an old wood frame house behind, which must be very old, and then here’s this almost Palladian front up to the sidewalk.

At the end of the block we reach the Theater at Bremen Avenue, which I looked at back in January of 2018. It opened in 1910 and had 600 seats on the first floor and 200 more in the balcony. It’s been closed now for over a decade, having had a second life as a church for years. It looks like someone did some substantial relaying of bricks on the parapet wall, but as can be seen on the left, the roots of a volunteer tree completely destroyed a pilaster.
