West of Lake Avenue, which bifurcates the area, there are some handsome houses that I might describe as Colonial Revival almost of maybe Georgian, which is a break from the more cube-shaped houses that dominate Westminster Place.

But there are plenty of what I would call semi-Renaissance Revival houses such as the one below.

It’s common to see side entrances, a feature that many middle class houses share in St. Louis, and a one or two story porch on the other side, which functioned possibly as a solarium of sleeping porch.

Perhaps what is also notable is the use of new shades of brick, rejecting the uniform red brick common east of Grand Boulevard.
