There’s been some clear deterioration of the top of the southern smokestack at the Armour Meat Packing Plant. Compare this photo with this one, from several years ago. I guess it’s only a matter of time when the crumbling bricks accelerate in their dilapidation.

Do you agree with me that the Amour Meat Packing Plant will be demolished with the highway 70 expansion/construction?

Yes, the land has suddenly become much more profitable. See my post about the realtors’ signs going up recently.

IS ARMOUR STILL UP? IT WOULD BE A SHAME TO SEE SOME ASPECTS OF THE BUILDING GO DOWN LIKE IN ST. LOUIS. I LIKE THE MOLDING AND LINES OF THE PLANT. THE LAST TIME I TRIED TO GET THERE IN SEPT. 2010. THE ROAD WAS BLOCKED OFF AND I DIDN’T ATTEMPT TO GO PAST WHILE ALONE. I JUST WANTED TO TAKE SOME EXTRA SHOTS.

Terry, it is still standing, as of March 2013.
