I find this house on North Florissant Avenue to be a mystery; was it an alley house for the main house on Salisbury? Why are there so many doors? Was this a single family house?
A Blog detailing the beauty of St. Louis architecture and the buildup of residue-or character-that accumulates over the course of time.
I dunno that I could ever get tired of looking through Sanborns. Looks like this place was a 2-family building, while the main building on Salisbury was a 3-story, mansard-roofed structure that had a business on, at the very least, the 1st floor. Maybe I’ve never paid much attention to them on the maps before now, but it seems like alley houses were halfway prevalent at one time…
