St. Patrick’s School, East St. Louis

Lyon School and North St. Louis 015

Alerted by Darren Snow, I went and visited this beautiful old Catholic school building in the eastern reaches of East St. Louis, near Washington Park. This part of the city is in much better condition than much of the areas closer in, but the abandonment and desolation is spreading. It’s a strange mix of Moorish and Spanish elements, with interesting peach and caramel terracotta trim and decorative elements.

Are these buildings for sale? Or is it at all possible to get a donation of one. I am very interested in starting up a shelter for St. Louis.

I believe it is still owned and occupied by a church, not sure though. Sorry, I don’t know much about that corner of East St. Louis.
