After the Tornado: Skinker-DeBaliviere

The Skinker-DeBaliviere neighborhood, which is bounded by Forest Park on the south, the city limits on the west, Delmar Boulevard on the north and DeBaliviere Avenue on the east, also saw damage from the tornado.

The tornado and high winds primarily struck the southeast corner of the neighborhood, and the wreckage ranged from the collapse of upper floors of houses to roof and chimney damage.

And automobiles saw themselves crushed by huge, mature street trees.

By this point, many buildings have been sealed from the weather in preparation for renovation from the storm.

This former synagogue-turned-church has been abandoned now for years, and it has suffered severe damage. Who will be responsible for its repair?

Large apartment buildings have suffered complex damage, much of which will be challenging to repair due to the height of broken windows, collapsed parapet walls, etc.
