Arsenal Street Between Louisiana and South Compton Avenues

Heading east on Arsenal Street from Louisiana Avenue in Tower Grove East, we see more of the trat housing along the busy corridor.

We move past the church that was never built past the first story; one of the walls is leaning so I suspect they never built the upper stories due to settling of the foundation, possibly due to sinkholes underneath.

Much of the housing is multi-family, as can be seen below.

This corner store has been vacant for years now.

This apartment building, which for years was rundown, was fixed up, with accompanying higher rents. It’s essentially just two six-family apartment buildings put together at a right angle.

The buildings below were once a six family but were converted into three apartments.

Then we reach the corner store that was hit by an SUV. You can see that saga and its end in this post.

I looked at this area back in February of 2019, and then again in January and August of 2021.
