Originally known as the Evangelisch Lutheran Bethlehem Kirche, this congregation was organized in 1852.

It is now part of the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran Church. As can be seen on the front facade, the current church is from 1919, which makes sense stylistically. If you were wondering what U.A.C. stands for, it is Unaltered Augsburg Confession, which you can learn about here.

The address is interesting: Boeuf Lutheran Road. Boeuf means “beef” in French. I do not know why it has that name.

We debate whether this structure above might have been the heavily altered original church; if it is, the foundation of poured concrete is obviously new.

The minister’s house seems to be a duplex, judging from the two front doors.

There is a large cemetery on the hillside by the church.

While there are many granite gravestones in good condition, we noted the limestone ones are still in relatively good shape. Perhaps acid rain did not reach this area.

In fact, some gravestones with delicate sculpting were still legible.
